Dr. Kanyike Andrew Marvin is a medical doctor with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery and is an early-career researcher. Currently, he works as a research associate and medical officer at Mengo Hospital. Additionally, he serves as a research officer for the Lancet Commission on Medical Oxygen, based at Makerere University School of Public Health. Dr. Kanyike is also a research fellow at the HIV, Infectious Disease, and Global Health Implementation Research Institute (HIGH IRI) at the Center for Implementation and Dissemination Research, Institute of Public Health, Washington University, St. Louis.
With three years of active research experience, Dr. Kanyike has authored and co-authored 24 published articles in international peer-reviewed journals, cited over 380 times. He also serves as a peer reviewer for international journals, including PLOS ONE and BMC journals. Dr. Kanyike has received additional training in monitoring and evaluation, as well as implementation science, from the University of Washington. He is an esteemed member of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and a member and early-career researcher grant awardee of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is also an alumnus and community action grant awardee of the Aspire Institute Leaders’ Program, founded at Harvard University.
Dr. Kanyike is recognized as a dedicated leader, service-oriented individual, and Rotaractor. He co-founded and serves as the general secretary of Healtorch Foundation Uganda, a non-profit health organization in Uganda. Additionally, he holds the position of Director of Research Support and Dissemination at Communities for Childbirth International, an organization striving to improve maternal health in Eastern Uganda. He leads the NCD initiative at Way Forward Youth Africa Limited. Dr. Kanyike also provides research consultancy services and has consulted with reputable organizations such as the International AIDS Society.
